By 2011, AMA Superbike pre-race festivities had become much more abbreviated compared to past seasons. This often made taking grid photos a bit of a rushed affair. Ben Bostrom’s place on the starting grid happened to be next to the pit wall at what was then called Infineon Raceway, and as I was exiting the track I noticed where he was sitting and fired off two quick shots. The original edit involved having to erase a friend’s foot from the wall as he was climbing over it. Years later, I re-edited the photo to straighten out the slightly tilted horizon and lamp post in the background, and the resulting crop conveniently eliminated the spot where my friend’s wayward foot used to be.
